Sorry I am running so late today. Night time football games mess me up so bad! The good news is that I didn't have to wake up and go to work today. If this was last year I would have had less than an hour of sleep last night. Ugh! I can just never go to sleep right after a game like that is over. Even though I didn't get all that excited during the game while I was at my friend Jenny's house because, you know, she is a Giants fan and she was serving really good wine so I didn't want to seem ungrateful...... Plus I know the Cowboys and I knew that at any moment they were capable of collapsing and then I would have been open to ridicule. So, my outward appearance was calm.
But at the 2 minute warning I left to come home and when the game was over, I cheered in my car and was very excited. Then I listened to post game on The Ticket the rest of the way home. When I got home, I watched ESPN. After that I watched Craig Ferguson and then the Cowboys Post Game Show came on local TV. So, at 3 I finally got in bed then I was still too worked up. So, I turned ESPN back on. They didn't have anything new to say. So, I watched a DVR'd rerun of my favorite show Hawaii 5-0. (I love me some Steve McGarret). And around 5 this morning, I finally went to sleep. In other words I am working on very little sleep here. So if I start to hallucinate, you can just exit the blog and return tomorrow.
So, I had a couple of topics written down that I thought I might delve into today. But now, it is the morning after the first win of the NFL season for the Cowboys and well..... I think that holds a little more interest for me today than say, Jingle's propensity for sleeping in my car. So, Dallas Cowboys talk, here we go!
First of all, I am tired of the Tony Romo bashing. If he has a good game, people act like it is a fluke. If he has a bad game, they act like they knew it would happen. This guy is running for his life every week of the season and has been doing so for years. He works with an offensive line that knows as much about blocking as I did when I played intramural flag football in college. Actually, in previous years, they may have known less about blocking than me. With the changes to the offensive line, perhaps this year, he will have more protection than in previous years. But one game does not a season make. We will see.
Second, can I just say that DeMarco Murray is the best thing to happen to this team since Emmitt Smith. Now hopefully, he won't develop Emmitt's obnoxiously "I'm omnipotent" personality. I never could stomach the way Emmitt talked down to all reporters even if he was a great running back. DeMarco, you just have to understand that whatever you do on the field does not make up for being an ass off he field. Keep that in mind in all of your dealings with reporters.
Third, Cowboys fans, this is directed at you. Let's not get stupid. They have won one game. It doesn't mean they are going to the super bowl this year. It just means that they will beat the Giants at least once this year. Over confidence helps no one. Believe, but believe quietly until we see a pattern.
Finally, this win does not bode well for Target's 3rd and 4th Quarter this year. You see during football season, I get really upset if the Cowboys start sucking during a game. I get emotional and cannot watch it so I get in the car and go to Target. Anyone who knows me also knows that I can't walk out of Target without spending $125. So, that is a lot of money that Target could be missing out on if the Cowboys offensive line continues to figure out this blocking thing. If you have Target stock and the Cowboys win the next two games you should consider selling the stock.
Have a good Thursday. I'm going to see if I can figure out a way to obtain some last minute tickets for Saturday's SFA vs SMU game which I forgot to get tickets for. If any of you have a couple of tickets you are looking to unload, let me know.
